The Enterprise version of Windows 10 has now been launched, offering the prospect of new features that Microsoft will help secure management of PCs and mobile phones. Other drivers of the transformation will be the rise of convertible personal computers, which can switch between tablets and laptops, such as Microsoft Surface. These devices can use the features of Windows 10 to adjust their interface to fit the mouse keyboard and touch screen control. Many companies have some internal requirements for these new cool devices, and to meet your requirements, you can use Windows 8 and handle all the problems around you, or you can use Windows 10, just like those questions.
But not everyone thinks the upgrade will be the top priority for the business. Obviously, the enterprise and enterprise IT departments have a certain understanding of Windows 10, but we have not heard of our enterprise customers, they have plans to launch Windows 10 at any time.
Here is a brief introduction to the key Windows 10 enterprise features that Microsoft wants to persuade companies to convert:
New enterprise features for Windows 10
Enterprise Data Protection
The Enterprise Data Protection feature for Windows 10 will be added later to Windows Enterprise to help prevent accidental disclosure of sensitive information. Microsoft said the system would use container file technology to separate individual and corporate data, which would have a “minimal” impact on how employees work. Additional security measures protect sensitive data at shared time. When data is moved through your organization, it encrypts the data if you send an email to the wrong person, attaches the wrong file, it escapes your organization, it is not read, it is encrypted.
Microsoft also highlighted the ability of Windows 10 to erase company data on devices and keep personal data unchanged, as well as using audit reports to track issues and remedial actions. It will also be able to work with mobile device Management (MDM) systems to protect company data within Office generic applications.
This feature allows devices to run only trusted software-whether it is a traditional desktop, a Windows store, or an internal application. Device Guard uses the new virtualization-based security in Windows Enterprise to isolate the code integrity services that control the processes of the Microsoft Windows kernel itself, allowing services to use signatures defined by the enterprise-controlled policy to determine which ones are trustworthy. You can lock the operating system on that piece of hardware and none of the other hardware starts.
Microsoft says the whitelist approach will effectively prevent malware from running on the machine, especially software that changes its code to prevent anti-virus software from being detected. Using technology embedded in hardware and virtualization to build a sandbox, code integrity services will also help break down attacks against windows at the kernel level and tamper with traditional virus and malware countermeasures.
Device Guard requires a variety of hardware features and software settings: UEFI 2.3.1 or higher; Virtualization such as intel® vt-x,amd-v and slat extensions must be enabled; x64 version of Windows; IOMMU, such as Intel Vt-d,amd-vi; TPM 2.0; BIOS lockout. Hewlett-Packard, Acer, Lenovo, Toshiba, Fujitsu and other manufacturers will produce systems designed specifically for new Microsoft security controls.
This feature allows Windows 10 machines to be simpler than earlier versions of the OS. IT administrators can configure the provisioning package rules to determine the appearance of the operating system, which applications and certificates should be installed, register devices with the MDM suite, set user permissions, and so on. The same supply pack rule can be used to configure multiple machines that can be applied to Windows images or run Windows machines through SD cards, USB drives, or network shares. Packages are created using the image and configuration designer, which is part of the new Windows 10 Evaluation and Deployment Toolkit.
Microsoft Passport provides a system that allows users to log on to Windows 10 using biometric technologies such as fingerprints or facial scans or pins. You can then log on to the microsoft, active directory or Azure Active directory account with the same scan or PIN, and many non-Microsoft services that support fast ID online authentication, including Office 365 Exchange Online, salesforce, citrix, box and concur. Microsoft says that Passport offers convenience because users have to remember less credentials and security because no password is used.
Credential Guard provides additional security for login details by storing derived vouchers (NTLM hash and Kerberos tickets and the process of managing them in a secure isolation container that uses Hyper-V and virtualization-based security). This will require UEFI 2.3.1 or higher; Virtualization such as intel® vt-x,amd-v and slat extensions must be enabled; x64 version of Windows; IOMMU, such as Intel Vt-d,amd-vi; TPM 2.0; BIOS.
Sideloading allows some Windows store applications to be installed on Windows machines that do not want to be published and published publicly. This side-loading approach is useful when the company wants to deploy line-of-business applications internally. Sideloading is a built-in feature of Windows for Home, pro and enterprise users. If an organization is developing its own enterprise applications, it wants to roll out to employees, apparently with some intrinsic business value in Windows 10.
Mobile Device Management
Phones running Windows 10, tablets and other devices can be centrally managed by it. Windows 10 computers can connect to mobile device management (MDM) servers that will register and configure devices, and apply updates and perform the latest internal policies to manage usage. The MDM package can be used to manage both Windows 10 phones and desktops and laptops-allowing IT professionals to use the same tools to manage fixed and mobile devices. You can use Microsoft’s own MDM products, intune, or third-party alternatives.
There are a variety of new MDM features in Windows 10. Integrated with Azure Active directory, you can use the MDM tool to manage devices that are joined to a domain. You can also use the MDM service to install applications directly from the Windows application store and to deploy line-of-business applications that are not stores. New device management options include automatic Update policy, retrieval of device compliance information, and the ability to specify the approval list for each device update.Microsoft also hopes to improve support for managing multiple users and VPN configurations.
Windows 10 allows users and devices to be managed through a variety of services, providing Active Directory for all devices that are frequently connected to the corporate network or azure Active Directory and MDM for Devices, Group Policy and system The choice between Center revisit manager is usually a mobile and internet connection. What we see here is the elements of the desktop operating system that are managed through MDM-like functionality and/or Group Policy, which is the traditional desktop control and management approach.
Windows 10 Commercial Stores
Microsoft plans to launch the Windows Store for Business, an app store designed to make it easier for companies to deploy applications to employees. The organization will be able to create a private part of the Windows store, providing a customized list of pre-approved applications that administrators will be able to assign to specific employees. Companies will also be able to buy applications in bulk. Users will log on through Azure Active directory.
Azure Active Directory Features
Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) is a Microsoft multi-tenant, cloud-based directory and Identity Management service that can be used for thousands of SaaS applications, such as Office365, Salesforce.com,dropbox and concur) provide single sign-on access. Microsoft is further integrating Azure ad with Windows to reduce the amount of password users need to remember.
By linking Windows 10 devices to Azure AD, users will be able to log on to Windows with their Azure AD account and password. The same device can be automatically registered with the mobile Device Management service at the same time. Users can also obtain a single sign-on access to internal services from a personal Windows device by linking the Windows machine to a working account that is managed using Azure Active directory.
Free access to Microsoft Desktop Optimization Pack
The Microsoft Desktop Optimization Package (MDOP) is a technology that was previously available as a Microsoft software security customer subscription. It is designed to help businesses build and run virtual Windows desktops and applications, manage Windows users with features such as encryption, and recover systems more quickly. Starting with the launch of Windows 10, MDOP software security is provided free of charge to new and renewed customers.
Current Business Branch
For work devices that are not mission-critical but require more control of updates than consumer machines, there are also current business branch (CBB) Update paths. This option allows PCs to receive feature updates several months after they are pushed to a consumer version of Windows 10, allowing more time to verify their quality and application compatibility. The security update will be transferred normally. CBB will allow users to choose between Windows Update, windows Update for business or Windows Server update Services (WSUS) to push these updates to the user.
Long-term Service branch (LTSB)
Unlike other versions of Windows 10, Enterprise will provide a long service branch (LTSB), allowing Windows updates (not involving security or patching) to be postponed for 10 years. Some of our clients responded very positively to this model, which they thought gave them a flexibility they didn’t feel before.
Granularity UX Control
This feature allows IT managers to customize and lock the Windows device user interface to limit the machine’s ability to perform specific tasks, such as acting as the airport’s value counter.
Enterprise Mode Internet Explorer
Old intranet sites typically do not present or show the desired results as newer browsers do. To address the enterprise model of Internet Explorer (IE) 11, which is shipped with Windows 10, provides an experience similar to the IE8. It allows for updated browser functionality that may cause errors to be disabled, such as tab switching, and provides tools for managing and monitoring compatibility.
As with Windows 8.1, if device encryption is enabled, the drives for all machines are automatically encrypted and can only be unlocked by someone who knows the user account password. Password-based cryptography is designed to enable users to simply log on and use the system while preventing malicious third parties from accessing data. Device encryption uses BitLocker and 128-bit AES symmetric encryption. It also supports the recovery mechanism, which can be stored in an organization’s Active Directory domain service.
Group Policy Management
Like earlier Windows operating systems, you can use Group Policy settings to manage Windows 10 physical and virtual machines and devices that allow IT professionals to configure users and computers throughout the enterprise. Microsoft says Group Policy settings provide more than 30,000 ways to configure machines and devices. Windows 10 adds new features and settings that you can manage with Group Policy-for example, about 20 settings related to Microsoft’s new Edge browser, restricting the ability of user application data to remain on the system volume, and disabling the deployment of Windows store applications to non-system volumes. There are also various options for customizing the Start menu layout.
BitLocker allows a drive to encrypt with 128-bit or 256-bit encryption to protect data when the computer is lost or stolen. While preventing third parties from accessing data, BitLocker also provides tools that allow network administrators to access the recovery key to retrieve data from the drive when a machine fails.
Assigned Access 8.1
This feature allows Windows 10 to be set to run a single Windows store application in Full-screen mode, preventing access to settings or exiting the application. It is designed to allow the operating system to run on a self-service terminal, and you need only users to access the self-service terminal application, not the following operating system. It needs to support INSTANTGO.
As the name suggests, Remote Desktop clients allow the operating system to connect to a remote PC and access its files, applications, and networking devices.
DirectAccess allows desktop PCs to connect to the server to access the internal system without the need for a virtual private network (VPN). As also found in Windows 8 Enterprise Edition, Windows to go allows you to create the same startup desktop image as the startup desktop image that the enterprise uses to set up the PC. The user can then boot into the desktop from USB on any PC that meets Windows 7 or higher certification requirements.
Starting with Windows 7, AppLocker allows administrators to specify which users or groups can run specific applications based on the unique identity of the file. You can also create rules to control which versions of software are used in your business.
Also, starting with Windows 7, BranchCache allows you to create local cache information that is stored on a remote server. Information is typically cached on the local server, but can also be stored on Windows 7,8 or 10 machines. This feature is designed to make it easier to access information and reduce the pressure on the WAN.
